6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Gallup Building - DC
Every summer, students from the University of Nebraska arrive in Washington, D.C. to start their summer internships. Most of them don’t know the city or anyone in it. To encourage their success, this summer, the university launched the D.C. Professional Enrichment Academy – and now, Matt Hammons, Assistant Vice President and Director of Federal Relations with the University of Nebraska, is inviting you, our DC Huskers members, to have a chance to meet these students and sit in on one of their seminars, titled “The News Media and American Democracy.”
The event will be held Wednesday, July 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Gallup Building with a chance to meet the students, share perspectives with them, and then experience their seminar, where they’ll hear from several speakers with Nebraska ties:
- Jon Clifton, The Gallup Organization
- Mike Fritz, PBS News Hour
- Jenna Johnson, The Washington Post
- Jeff Zeleny, CNN
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by July 6 if you plan to attend.
As the home of the Huskers for those in Washington, DC, we’re happy to help connect our local alumni members and other Nebraskans with current students involved in this program. The program is open to students from all four University of Nebraska campuses and from any major or discipline, and the university is already developing plans to grow the program for summer 2019.
